Chester Half Marathon 2010
The morning of Sunday 16th May 2010 saw the running of the Chester Half Marathon. Over 2,500 runners participated in the cities “largest mass participation event”. Starting on Chester Racecourse at 9.30. The 13.1 mile long run takes a southern route out of Chester. Crossing the Dee over the Old Dee Bridge, along Eaton Lane, Rake Lane and the Wrexham Road before returning to Chester. Over Grosvenor Bridge and and the finish back on the Racecourse.
The mens race was completed in 1:10:55 by Damian Nicholls of Wilmslow Running Club more than 6 second outside the course record set in 2000 by Alan Shepherd. And the womens race was won by Marilyn Kitching from Tattenhall Runners in 1:19:18 more than 4 seconds outside the course record set in 2003 by Lisa Heyes.
After the start of the road race a "Fun Run" took place around the racecourse in which participants of all ages and abilities participated.
This years event was in aid of Scope and their services for disabled people at the Chester Skills Development Centre in Blacon.
