Primark Chester
The long anticipated Primark store opened in the old Woolworth's Building on Foregate Street Chester on Tuesday 18th May. Judging by the flocks of Primark bags parading the rows on Thursday the good people of Chester must have been starved of clothes for decades.
The 33,650 sq ft store opened after a 15 month refurbishment and a wrangle over the store front design. Nearly two and a half thousand people applied for the 190 jobs that the store brings to Chester.
The Primark brand started life as Penneys in Ireland but now has stores throughout Britain and in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. The people of Chester no longer have to travel to the Liverpool or Wrexham store to get their Primark fix.
